What we are thinking about.

The mums romoma began with one belief. That when a mum is looked after, everything around her softens. Twice a week, a room fills with mums and their little ones. On Tuesdays it is MOVA Studio in Acomb, on Fridays it is Wigginton Old School. Some come knowing everyone. Some come knowing no one, still in the early weeks and still finding their feet. By the time the coffee is poured, the room has settled into something that feels a lot like belonging. There is a quiet strength in a group of mums sitting together. No one has to perform here. No one has to have slept. The morning asks nothing of you except that you arrive as you are, and that alone can change the shape of a whole week. Bringing mums together is the heart of it. The produce Everything you are handed at romoma has been chosen with care, and nearly all of it comes from close to home. The coffee is from Roost, roasted here in Yorkshire, ground that morning and poured before you have taken your coat off. Beside it sits a changing selection of teas from Hebden Tea's, so there is always something warm to wrap your hands around, whatever kind of morning you have had. The croissants come from Haxby Bakehouse, who are up and baking long before the rest of us are awake. For the little ones there are natural sensory baskets to reach into and Grimm's wooden toys to turn over in small hands. These are natural, handmade things, made slowly and made to last. You can feel the time and the care that has gone into each one. Everything has been picked the way you would pick something for someone you love. For you romoma is not only a space for the baby. It is a space for you. So much of early motherhood is spent tending to someone else. For a couple of hours, romoma turns that around. The good coffee is yours. The croissant is yours. The seat in a room where nothing is expected of you is yours. Because when mums thrive, their babies thrive too. Look after the mum and you look after the whole family. Quality time and quality produce, in one warm room, on one morning of the week. Come and treat yourself.
